About

Dr. Sanjoy Datta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Genetics & Breeding at the West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, with ten years in this post following six years as a Veterinary Officer with the West Bengal Department of Animal Resources Development. His work centres on the genetic improvement, characterisation and welfare of livestock and poultry — with recurring focus on Black Bengal goat, Garole sheep, indigenous cattle and dairy herd management — carried through university-led field projects across West Bengal and collaborations with ICAR institutes.

Alongside teaching and research supervision, he reviews for several national and international journals, serves as Subject Editor of Exploratory Animal and Medical Research, and has been recognised with the B.N. Gupta Memorial Award for academic excellence in Animal Production.
